Cinnamon buns are a delectable sweet treat that consists of a rich, yeast-raised dough rolled out, spread with a cinnamon and sugar mixture, rolled up, sliced into rounds, and baked to golden perfection. They are often topped with a sweet glaze or cream cheese frosting. Cinnamon buns are a beloved pastry in many cultures and are commonly associated with breakfast or brunch, but they can be enjoyed at any time of day!
In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
Add in flour, sugar, salt and egg. Beat on low speed for 3 minutes. Then add butter bit by bit and beat for 5 more minutes.
Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
For the filling mix together softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon and salt.
Once the dough has risen, cut it in half and roll it out on a well floured surface. Spread the filling on top and form it into the tight roll.
Use a sharp knife to cut the dough into even pieces and put them on a baking pan lined with parchment paper. Allow them to rise for another hour.
Bake them at 180°C for 15-20 minutes.
